Retinal Vein Occlusion

Retinal vein occlusions are a common cause of vision loss in people over 55 years of age.  It occurs from blockage of vessels that drain blood from the retina, which is the lining over the back of the eye housing the specialized “light-sensing” cells.  When the blockage occurs in the main vessel draining blood from the retina, it is called a central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).
