A retinal tear or detachment is a serious condition and requires immediate attention by a retina specialist.  In the early stages, a retinal tear can be treated with an in-office procedure called laser retinopexy.  As the tear and detachment progress, surgery is required to repair it.  Without treatment, a retinal tear and detachment progress to permanent vision loss.
