COMMON CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Macular Pucker (Epiretinal Membrane)

macular pucker.jpg

A macular pucker or epiretinal membrane occurs when scar tissue causes wrinkling of the macula, which is the area of the retina responsible for detailed vision such as reading.  Initially, this goes unnoticed, however as the scar tissue and wrinkling worsen, patients will perceive distortions in their vision.
